Narrow is the Way
The Complete Teachings of Yahshuah from the Gospels
By
Thom Milnor
These are the teachings of Yahshuah without redundancy between the Gospels. There are however some lessons so strongly in need of understanding and/or needed to be put into our daily lives, that they bear repeating from other Gospel text. All four Gospels will be presented in series This is the New Covenant. These teachings supercede the ritual and sacrificial laws of Moses. Only teachings as they pertain to the general population are being presented and not those that pertained specifically to Yahshuah’s disciples or specific persons of those days.

Yahshuah’s Teachings According to the Gospel Matthew
Matt 3:15 Permit me now: FOR THUS IT BECOMES US TO FULFILL ALL RIGHTEOUSNESS. We must render perfect obedience to Yahweh in all things, which He has ordained. (Emphasis mine throughout)
And this, although not a teaching of Yahshuah is important to be included here because it tells us who Yahshuah is:
Matt 3:17 and lo, a voice out of the heaven, saying, THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED.
Matt 4:4 It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Yahweh.
Matt 4:7 Again, it is written, You shall not make trial of Yahweh your Elohim. (You must not test Yahweh)
Matt 4:10 for it is written, You shall worship Yahweh your Elohim, and Him only shall you serve.
Matt 4:17 Repent; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Matt 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Those who feel themselves void of righteousness.)
Matt 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Matt 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. (Those who would rather suffer injury than revenge themselves.)
Matt 5:6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Matt 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Matt 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see Yahweh.
Matt 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of Elohim.
Matt 5:10 Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matt 5:11 Blessed are you when men shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Matt 5:12 Rejoice, and be very glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets that were before you.
Matt 5:13 YOU are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what shall it be salted? It is from then on good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men.
Matt 5:14 YOU are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. (15) Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under a bushel, but on the stand; and it shines to all that are in the house. (16) Even so let YOUR light shine before men; that they may see YOUR good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Matt 5:17 Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy but to fulfill. (18)
For truly I say to you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one yodh or one tittle (The smallest of the letters) shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished.
Matt 5:19 Whoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whoever shall DO AND TEACH THEM, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Matt 5:20 For I say to you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees (Who neither expound the Law truthfully, nor observe it well.), you shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Matt 5:21 You have heard it was said to them of old time, you shall not kill: and whoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: (22) but I say to you, that every one who is ANGRY WITH HIS BROTHER WITHOUT CAUSE shall be in danger of the judgment; and whoever SHALL SAY TO HIS BROTHER RACA (A Jewish term of disrespect), shall be in danger of the council; and whoever SHALL SAY, YOU FOOL, shall be in danger of Gehenna fire.
Matt 5:23 If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, (24) leave your gift before the altar, and go your way, first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. (Yahweh prefers brotherly reconciliation to sacrifice.)
Matt 5:25 Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him in the way; lest the adversary delivers you to the judge, and the judge delivers you to the officer, and you be cast into prison. (26) Truly I say to you, You shall not come out from there, till you have paid the last quadrans.
Matt 5:27 You have heard that it was said that you shall not commit adultery: (28) but I say to you, that every one that looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Matt 5:29 And if your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not your whole body be cast into the fire. (30) And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not your whole body go into Gehenna. (Nothing should be so precious as to conflict with Yahweh’s Law.)
Matt 5:31 It was said also, Whoever shall shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: (32) but I say to you, that every one that puts away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, makes her an adulteress: and whoever shall marry her when she is put away commits adultery.
Matt 5:33 Again, you have heard that it was said to them of old time, you shall not forswear (vow’s a vow ) yourself, but shall perform to Yahweh your oaths: (34) but I say to you, swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is the throne of Yahweh; (35) nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great king. (36) Neither shall you swear by the head, for you can not make one hair white or black. (37) But let your speech be, yes, yes; (Or simply do not vow and just say) No, no: and whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
Matt 5:38 You have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth (39) but I say to you, Resist not him that is evil: but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. (Prefer to receive a double wrong to yourself rather than inflict revenge.) (40) And if any man would go to law with you, and take away your coat, let him have your cloak also. (41) And whoever shall compel you to go one mile, go with him two. (42) Give to him that asks you, and from him that would borrow of you turn you not away.
Matt 5:43 You have heard that it was said, you shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy (This was added by the Pharisees.): (44) but I say to you, Love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you; (45) that you may be sons (children) of your Father who is in heaven: for He makes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. (46) For if you love them that love you, what reward have you? Do not even the publicans the same? (47) And if you salute your brethren only, what do you more than others? Do not even the Gentiles the same? (48) YOU THEREFORE SHALL BE PERFECT, AS YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS PERFECT. (This is a command and a religious duty of every true believer to strive for.)
Matt 6:1 Take heed that you do not your righteousness (Compassionate acts, works of mercy, and giving to the poor) before men, to be seen of them: else you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.
Matt 6:2 When therefore you do alms, sound not a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men, Truly I say to you, They have received their reward. (3) But when you do alms, let not your left hand know what your right hand does: (4) that your alms may be secret: and your Father who sees in secret shall recompense you.
Matt 6:5 And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites: for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corner of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward. (6) But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret shall recompense you.
Matt 6:7 And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. (8) Be not therefore like to them: for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask him.
Matt 6:9 After this manner therefore pray: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be your name, (10) Your kingdom come, Your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. (11) Give us this day our daily bread. (12) And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. (13) And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.(14) For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. (15) But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matt 6:16 Moreover when you fast, be not like the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Truly I say to you, they have received their reward. (17) But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; (18) that you not be seen of men to fast, but of your Father who is in secret: and your Father, who sees in secret, shall recompense you.
Matt 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal: (20) but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does consume, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: (21) for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Matt 6:22 The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye is sound, your whole body shall be full of light, (23) but if your eye be evil, your whole body shall be full of darkness!
Matt 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You cannot serve Yahweh and mammon.
Matt 6:25 Therefore I say to you, Be not anxious for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment? (26) Behold the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you of much more value than they? (27) And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to the measure of his life? (28) And why are you anxious concerning raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: (29) yet I say to you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. (30) But if Elohim does so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? (31) Be not therefore anxious, saying, What shall we eat? Or, What shall we drink? Or, With what shall we be clothed? (32) For after all these things the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. (33) But seek you first His kingdom, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you (That is; to repent and convert to Yahweh‘s Law.). (34) Be not therefore anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient to the day is the evil of it.
Matt 7:1 Judge not, that you be not judged. (2) For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you. (3) And why behold you the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? (4) Or how will you say to your brother, Let me cast out the speck out of your eye; and lo, the beam is in your own eye? (5) You hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of your own eye, and then shall you see clearly to cast out the speck out of your brother’s eye.
Matt 7:6 Give not that which is holy to the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and rend you. (Not everyone to whom you speak to about the truth are interested in what you have to say. They often question to provoke. Graciously avoid the subject with them.)
Matt 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you: (8) For every one who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks it shall be opened. (9) Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone; (10) or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent? (11) if you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him? (12) All things THEREFORE WHATEVER YOU WOULD THAT MEN SHOULD DO TO YOU, EVEN SO DO YOU ALSO TO THEM: for this is the law and the prophets.
Matt 7:13 Enter you in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many are they that enter in through it. (14) For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leads to life, and few are they that find it. (see the article “Narrow is the Gate” on the “Prove all Things” Page.)
Matt 7:15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. (16) By their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? (17) Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. (18) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. (19) Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. (20) Therefore by their fruits you shall know them. (21) Not every one that says to me, Master, Master, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me in that day, Master, Master, did we not prophesy by your name, and by your name cast out demons, and by your name do mighty works? (23) And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work lawlessness. (Yahweh wants more from us than just mere lip service.)
Matt 7:24 Every one therefore that hears these words of mine, and does them, shall be likened to a wise man, who built his house upon the rock: (25) and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon the house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon the rock. (26) And every one that hears these words of mine, and does them not, shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: (27) and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and dashed against the house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Matt 8:11 And I say to you, that many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven: (12) but the sons of the kingdom shall be cast forth into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
Matt 8:21 And another of the disciples said to him, Master, suffer me first to go and bury my father. (22) But Yahshuah says to him, Follow me; and leave the dead to bury their own dead.
Matt 9:6 But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins.
Matt 9:12 …..They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick. (13) But go you and learn what this means, I DESIRE MERCY, and NOT SACRIFICE: for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.
Matt 9:16 And no man puts a piece of undressed cloth upon an old garment; for that which should fill it up takes from the garment, and a worse rent is made. (17) Neither do men put new wine into old wine-skins: else the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins perish: but they put new wine into fresh wine-skins. And both are preserved.
Matt 9:22 ….. YOUR FAITH HAS MADE YOU WHOLE.
Matt 9:28 ….. Believe you that I am able to do this? And they say to Him, Yes Master. (29) Then He touched their eyes, saying, ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH be it done to you.
In this tenth chapter of Matthew, YAHSHUAH IS COMMISSIONING HIS TWELVE DISCIPLES. This commission was not for any person or religious group of today, but for His disciples. This was their commission.
Matt 10:5These twelve Yahshuah sent forth, and charged them, saying, Go not into any way of the Gentiles, and enter not into any city of the Samaritans: (6) BUT GO RATHER TO THE LOST SHEEP OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL. (For a better understanding of where the lost sheep of the house of Israel are today, go to any of the following Church of God websites and request their free booklet, "The United States and Britain in Prophecy": "http://www.ucg.org" "http://www.cgi.org/" ) (7) And as you go, preach, saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand.(8) Heal the sick, raise the dead (???), cleanse the lepers, cast out demons: FREELY YOU RECEIVED, FREELY GIVE. (9) Get you no gold, nor silver, nor copper in your purses; (10) no wallet for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy of his food. (11) And into whatever city or village you shall enter, search out who in it is worthy; and there remain till you go forth. (12) And as you enter into the house, salute it. (13) And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. (14) And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, as you go forth out of that house or that city, shake off the dust of your feet. (This commission was given to the twelve disciples, not to the Jehovah Witnesses. They use it to insult you when they come to your door and you tell them you prefer not to listen to their false teachings) (15) Truly I say to you. It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.
Matt 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the middle of wolves: be you therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. (17) But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you; (18) yes, and before governors and kings shall you be brought for my sake, (Because they were to teach what Yahshuah taught which often was contradictory to the false teachings of the Pharisees.) for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. (19) But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what you shall speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what you shall speak. (20) For it is not you that speak, but the spirit of your Father that speaks in you. (21) And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. (22) And you shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endures to the end, the same shall be saved. (23) But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next: for truly I say to you, You shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, till the Son of man comes.
Matt 10:24 A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his Master. (25) It is enough for the disciple that he be as his teacher, and the servant as his Master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more them of his household! (26) Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. (27) What I tell you in the darkness, speak you in the light; and what you hear in the ear, proclaim upon the housetops. (28) And be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. (29) Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father: (30) but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. (31) Fear not therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. (32) EVERY ONE (here Yahshuah is now speaking to all men, not just His disciples.) therefore who shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in heaven. (33) But WHOEVER (again, includes all men) shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven.
Matt 10:34 Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I CAME NOT TO SEND PEACE, BUT A SWORD. (35) FOR I CAME TO SET A MAN AT VARIANCE AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND THE DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND THE DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW: (36) AND A MAN’S FOES SHALL BE THEY OF HIS OWN HOUSEHOLD. (True believers often find contempt and ridicule from non believing family members for following Yahshuah in truth) (37) He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. (38) And he that does not take his burden and follow after me, is not worthy of me. (39) He that finds his life shall lose it; and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it.
Matt 10:40 He that receives you receives me, and he that receives me receives Him that sent me. (41) He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward: and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. (42) And whoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you he shall certainly not lose his reward.
Matt 11:6 And blessed is he, whoever shall find no stumbling in me. (Not offended to proclaim Yahshuah as his Savior.)
Matt 11:27 All things have been delivered to me of my Father: and no one knows the Son, save the Father; neither does any know the Father, save the Son, and he to whomever the Son wills to reveal Him. (28) Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. (29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest in your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.
Matt 12 Here the Pharisees are questioning Yahshuah as to the lawfulness of the disciples plucking and eating grain on the Sabbath. Yahshuah’s replies: (3) ….. Have you not read what David did, when he was hungry, and they that were with him; (4) how he entered into the house of Yahweh, and ate the showbread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them that were with him but only for the priests? (5) Or have you not read in the law, that on the sabbath day the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are guiltless? (6) But I say to you, THAT ONE GREATER THAN THE TEMPLE is here. (7) But if you had known what this means, I DESIRE MERCY, NOT SACRIFICE, you would have condemned the guiltless. (8) FOR THE SON OF MAN IS MASTER OF THE SABBATH.
Matt 12: 9-10 The Pharisees question Yahshuah as to the lawfulness of healing on the sabbath. And His reply: (11) ….. What man shall there be of you, that shall have one sheep, and if this falls into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? (12) How much then is a man of more value than a sheep! Therefore IT IS LAWFUL TO DO GOOD ON THE SABBATH DAY.
Matt 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathers not with me scatters. (There are no neutrals in this war. Either you are with Yahshuah or you are against Him. You either obey his commands or what you do, even though you believe it righteous, is in vain.) (31) Therefore I say to you, EVERY SIN AND BLASPHEMY shall be forgiven to men; but the BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE SPIRIT, it shall not be forgiven. (That is; he that strives against the truth which he knows, and against his own conscience and so cannot repent, for he sins against the Holy Spirit. And that, cannot be forgiven. In John 5:19, Yahshuah states that He did nothing of himself, but he merely beheld what His Father did through Him. To condemn Yahshuah personally, as a man, would be pardoned, but to condemn the acts of power Yahshuah did because of Yahweh‘s Holy Spirit - as the Pharisees did by saying that Yahshuah cast out demons through Baalzebul, the Prince of Demons-was blasphemy against the Holy Spirit of Yahweh, and was an unpardonable sin.) (32) And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in that which is to come.
Matt 12:33 Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by its fruit.
Matt 12:34 You off-spring of vipers (directing His comments to the Pharisees), how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
Matt 12:35 The good man out of his good treasure brings forth good things: and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings forth evil things.
Matt 12:36 And I say to you, that every idle word that man shall speak, they shall give account of it in the day of judgment. (37) For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.
Matt 12:39 …..An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet: (40) for as Jonah was three days AND three nights (a period of 72 hours) in the belly of the great fish; so shall the Son of man be three days AND three nights (a period of 72 hours) in the heart of the earth. (Teaching a Friday afternoon crucifixion and a Sunday before dawn resurrection is not 72 hours and therefore it is a lie and a false doctrine perpetrated by Satan’s ministers.)
Matt 12:43 But the unclean spirit, when he is gone out of the man, passes through waterless places, seeking rest, and finds it not. (44) Then he says, I will return into my house where I came out; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished. (45) Then he goes, and takes with him seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter and dwell there: and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first.
Matt 12:50 For whoever shall do the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.
In chapter 13 we begin the parables of Yahshuah. Let’s jump ahead first to His explanation of the need for parables and then we’ll address them:
Matt 13:10 And the disciples came, and said to Him, why speak you to them (the “them”, being the multitude) in parables? (11) And He answered and said to them, To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. (12) For whoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but whoever has not, from him shall be taken away even that which he has. (13) Therefore I speak to them in parables; because seeing, they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. (14) And to them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which says, By hearing you shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing you shall see, and shall in no wise perceive: (15) For this people’s heart has grown fat, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; Lest they should perceive with their eyes, and hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And should turn again . And I should heal them. (16) But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear. (17) For truly I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which you see, and saw them not; and to hear the things which you hear, and heard them not.
This that is why Yahshuah spoke in parables. Now on to the parables. The first is the “Parable of the Sower”.
Matt 13:3 ……Behold, the sower went forth to sow; (4) and as he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the birds came and devoured them: (5) and others fell upon the rocky places, where they had not much earth: and straightway they sprang up, because they had no deepness of earth; (6) and when the sun was risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. (7) And others fell upon the thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked them: (8) and others fell upon the good ground, and yielded fruit, some a hundred-fold, some sixty, some thirty. (9) HE THAT HAS EARS, LET HIM HEAR. (Here Yahshuah explains the parable): (18) hear you then the parable of the sower. (19) When ANY ONE hears the word of the kingdom, and understands it not, then come the evil one, and snatches away that which has been sown in his heart. This is he that was sown by the way side. (20) And he that was sown upon the rocky places, this is he who hears the word, and straightway with joy receives it; (21) yet has he not root in himself, but endures for a while; and when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, straightway he stumbles. (22) And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that hears the word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. (23) And he that was sown upon the good ground , this is he that hears the word, and understands it; who truly bears fruit, and brings forth, some a hundred-fold, some sixty, some thirty.
The parable of the tares:
Matt 13:24 …… The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man that sowed good seed in his field: (25) but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares also among the wheat, and went away. (26) But when the blade sprang up and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. (27) And the servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where then has it tares? (28) And he said to them, An enemy has done this. And the servants say to him, Will you then that we go gather them up? (29) But he says, No, lest while you gather up the tares, you root up the wheat with them. (30) Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn. (Yahshuah’s explanation of this parable to the disciples): (37) ….. He that sows the good seed is the Son of man: (38) and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one; (39) and the enemy that sowed them is the devil: and the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels (40) As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire; so shall it be in the end of the world. (41) The Son of man shall send forth His angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling, and them that do iniquity, (42) and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. (43) Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that has ears, let him hear.
The parable of the mustard seed:
Matt 13:31 ….. The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: (32) which indeed is less than all seeds; but when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and lodge in the branches of it.
The parable of leaven:
Matt 13:33 ….. The kingdom of heaven is like to leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened.
The parable of the hidden treasure:
Matt 13:44 The kingdom of heaven is like to a treasure hidden in the field; which a man found, and hid; and in his joy he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field.
The parable of the pearl:
Matt 13:45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like to a man who is a merchant seeking good pearls: (46) and having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
The parable of the net:
Matt 13:47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like to a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: (48) which, when it was filled, they drew up on the beach; and they sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but the bad they cast away. (49) So shall it be in the consummation of the age: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the righteous, (50) and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
Matt 13:52 ….. Therefore every scribe who has been made a disciple to the kingdom of heaven is like to a man that is a householder, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old.
Matt 15:3 (Yahshuah answering the Pharisees question regarding the disciple transgressing tradition of the elders by eating with unwashed hands) …....Why do you also transgress the commandment of Elohim BECAUSE OF YOUR TRADITION? (Does Sunday worship come to mind? It should) (4) For Elohim said, Honor your father and your mother: and, He that speaks evil of father or mother, let him die the death. (5) But you say, Whoever shall say to his father or mother, That with which you might have been profited by me is given to Elohim; (6) he shall not honor his father. And you have made void the word of Yahweh because of your tradition. (7) You hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, (8) This people honors me with their lips; But their heart is far from me. (9) BUT IN VAIN THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS THEIR DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS (Their traditions. Yahweh will not be honored by man‘s fantasies and imaginations and detests all righteous intentions which are not grounded in His Law.) OF MEN. (15)……..Hear and understand: (11) Not that which enters into the mouth defiles the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man. And when the disciples told Yahshuah the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying, He replied:) (13) …..Every plant which my heavenly Father planted not, shall be rooted up. (14) Let them alone: (They are not worthy of our attention.) they are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both shall fall into a pit .(at Peter’s request, Yahshuah explains this parable.) (17) Perceive you not, that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? (18) But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart; and they defile the man. (19) For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, railings: (20) these are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands defiles not the man.
Matt 15:24 Here we have a very interesting statement: …..I WAS NOT SENT BUT TO THE LOST SHEEP OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL. Yahshuah is telling us in no uncertain terms that He did not come to save the world, but only THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL. Again if you have not already done so, to learn who those lost sheep of the house of Israel are, go to any of the following Church of God websites and request their free booklet, "The United States and Britain in Prophecy": "http://www.ucg.org" "http://www.cgi.org/"
Matt 16:4 The Pharisees and Sadducees wanted from Yahshuah a sign of the times. His reply: An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of Jonah. Three days and three nights (Again, 72 hours) in the tomb.
Matt 16:6 (addressing a concern of the disciples over not having brought bread) And Yahshuah said to them, , Take heed and beware of the leaven (teachings) of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.
Here Yahshuah is asking His disciples, who men thought the Son of man is. Some said John the Baptist, some, EliYah, and others Jeremiah, but Simon-Peter said, that He, Yahshuah was the Messiah, and here is Yahshuah’s response:
Matt 16:17 …..Blessed are you Simon Bar-Jonah: for flesh and blood has not revealed it to you, but my Father who is in heaven. (18) And I also say to you, that you are Peter, and upon this rock (This has been a greatly misinterpreted verse. One on which the Roman Catholic church has based its entire authority. There were no punctuations in the language of the Gospels. A comma would rightly have been placed after the word “Rock” and would have made what Yahshuah said was, that on He Himself the “assembly” YAHWEH UNITY, it would be built.) I will build my assembly; and the gates of the grave shall not prevail against it. (19) I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven (The preachers of the truth open the gates of heaven with the word of Yahweh. Which is the right key, so where this this word, {the Law and the Prophets] is not purely taught, there is neither key nor authority.; and whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. There is no disputing that He did give Peter the keys of the kingdom of heaven to understand mysteries of heaven and teach the truth, but the assembly was built on Yahshuah. He is the Rock on which the assembly would be built. If any church organization is not teaching precisely as Yahshuah instructed, they are doing so in vain.
Matt 16:24 ….. If any man would come after me (that is, be a follower of Yahshuah, not Peter.), let him deny himself, and take up his burden, and follow me. (25) For whoever would save his life shall lose it: and whoever shall lose his life for my sake shall find it (he will find eternal life) (26) For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his life? (27) For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then shall render to every man according to his deeds. (28) Truly I say to you, there are some of them that stand here, who shall certainly not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. By his kingdom, it is understood to be the glory of his ascension, and what follows after that, (Ephesians 4:10), or the preaching of the gospel, (Mark 9:1).
When the disciples could not cast out a demon from an epileptic child as Yahshuah said they could they questioned Him as to why? His response was:
Matt 17:20 …..Because of your little faith: for truly I say to you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Remove from here to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you. (21) But this kind (type of demon) goes not but save by prayer and fasting. Fasting is of used to put an edge upon prayer; it is an evidence of humiliation which is necessary in prayer.
Matt 18:1 At that time the disciples came to Yahshuah asking; Who is the greatest in the kingdom of Yahweh? (2) Then Yahshuah called a little child to Him, and set him in the midst of them. (3) And said, Truly I say to you, Except you turn, and become as little children, you shall never enter into the kingdom of heaven. (4) Whoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is the greater in the kingdom of heaven. (5) And whoever shall receive one such little child in my name receives me: (6) but whoever shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it is profitable for him that a great millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depth of the sea.
Matt 18:7 Woe to the world because of occasions of stumbling! For it must be that the occasions come; but woe to that man through whom the occasion comes!
Matt 18:8 If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from you: it is good for you to enter into life (eternal life) maimed or crippled, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the eternal fire. (9) And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from you: it is good for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Gehenna of fire.
Matt 18:10 See that you despise not one of these little ones; for I say to you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven. (11) For the Son of man came to save that which was lost. (12) How do you think? If any man have a hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine, and go to the mountains, and seek that which goes astray? (13) And if so be that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray. (14) Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
Matt 18:15 And if your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone: if he hears you, you have gained your brother. (16) But if he does not hear you, take with you one or two more, that at the mouth of two witnesses or three every word may be established. (17) And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the assembly: and if he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as the Gentile and the Publican. (18) truly I say to you, whatever things you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever things you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (19) Again I say to you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven. (20) For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Here Peter came to Yahshuah asking, “How often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?” And Yahshuah’s reply:
Matt 18:22 …..I say not to you, Until seven times; but until seventy times seven. (Yahshuah then goes on to give the parable about the king that forgave his servant all his debt and then that servant turned around and had his debtor imprisoned. Jumping ahead then to: ) (32) Then his master (the king) called him (the wicked servant) to him, and says to him, You wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt, because you implored me: (33) should not you also have had mercy on your fellow servant , even as I had mercy on you? (34) And his Master was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due. (35) So shall also my heavenly Father do to you, if you forgive not every one his brother from your hearts. (The message here; we must be continuously ready to forgive and be forgiven.)
Here the Pharisees are trying Yahshuah by saying, “Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?” And Yahshuah’s response:
Matt 19:4 …..Have you not read, that He who made them from the beginning made them male and female, (5) and said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall adhere to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh? (6) So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore Yahweh has joined together, let no man put asunder. (7) They say to him, “Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorcement, and to put her away?” (8) He says to them, Moses for your hardness of heart suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it has not been so. (9) And I say to you, Whoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery: and he that marries her when she is put away commits adultery. (10) The disciples say to him, “If the case of the man is so with his wife, it is not expedient to marry. (11) But He said to them, Not all men can receive this saying, but they to whom it is given. (12) For there are eunuchs, that were born so from their mother’s womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it. Scripture allows for divorce only as a result of fornication. It allows a man to become a eunuch in one of two ways: the first by castration or emasculation or other natural causes, such as a rupture, and secondly, “for the kingdom of heaven‘s sake“, by living as one who abstains from marriage as a celibate. Nowhere does it allow for homosexuality.
Here Yahshuah is being asked by someone as to what one need do to obtain eternal life. Yahshuah’s response:
Matt 19:17 …..Why do you ask me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good (Yahshuah referring to the heavenly Father. This does not however exclude Yahshuah who himself lived a sinless life.): but if you would enter into life, keep the commandments. (18) He says to him, Which? And Yahshuah said, You shall not kill, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, (19) Honor your father and your mother; and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (This man said he does all those things and wanted to know what he still lacked, Yahshuah’s response:) (21) …..If you would be perfect, go, sell that which you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come follow me. This man was there in person with Yahshuah. To be a disciple he would have to do as all the others were commanded to do. This man’s wealth was his idol of which he was reluctant to part. Yahshuah saw through this and commanded him to sell off his wealth if he wanted eternal life. He was commanded to use his wealth for Yahweh and for man and follow Yahshuah then and there. He was commanded to sell and give away; we today are required to use our increase properly as good stewards, to care for the needs of widows and orphans and to help preach the gospel to all the world.
Matt 19:23 ……Truly I say to you, It is hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven. (24) And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of Yahweh…….(27) Then answered Peter and said to Him, “Lo, we have left all, and followed you; what then shall we have?” (28) And Yahshuah said to them, Truly I say to you (speaking about the disciples), that you who have followed me, in the regeneration (When Yahshuah returns and establishes Yahweh’s kingdom on earth) when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones JUDGING THE TWELVE TRIBES OF ISRAEL. (For a better understanding, read the e-book, Thy Kingdom Come” from the “Books” page on this site.) (29) And every one (Now speaking to all mankind) that has left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life. (30) But many shall be last that are first; and first that are last.
The parable of the laborers in the vineyard:
Matt 20:1 For the kingdom of heaven is like to a man that was a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard. (2) And when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. (3) And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing in the marketplace idle; (4) and to them he said, Go you also into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you. And they went their way. (5) Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise. (6) And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing; and he says to them, Why do you stand here all the day idle? (7) They say to him, Because no man has hired us. He says to them, Go you also into the vineyard. (8) And evening having come, the owner of the vineyard says to his steward, Call the laborers, and pay them their hire, beginning from the last to the first. (9) And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a denarius. (10) And when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received every man a denarius. (11) And when they received it, they murmured against the householder, (12) saying, These last have spent but one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat , (13) But he answered and said to one of them, , Friend, I do you no wrong: did not you agree with me for a denarius? (14) Take up that which is yours, and go your way; it is my will to give to this last, even as to you. (15) Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own? Or is your eye evil, because I am good? (16) SO THE LAST SHALL BE FIRST, AND THE FIRST SHALL BE LAST.
Matt 20:26.……Whoever would become great among you, let him be your servant: (27) and whoever would be first among you let him be your bond-man: (28) even as the Son of man came not to be served unto, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Matt 21:18 Now in the morning as He returned to the city, He hungered. (19) and seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he came to it and found nothing on it, but leaves only; and He says to it, Let there be no fruit on you to the age. And immediately the fig tree withered away. (20) And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree immediately wither away?” (21) And Yahshuah answered and said to them, Truly I say to you, if you have faith, and doubt not, you shall not only do what is done to the fig tree, but even if you shall say to this mountain, Be you taken up and cast into the sea, it shall be done. (22) And ALL THINGS WHATEVER YOU SHALL ASK IN PRAYER, BELIEVING, YOU SAHLL RECEIVE.
From Matt 21:33-42, Yahshuah gives a parable about a certain landowner who owned a vineyard. He made every provision possible for the success of his vineyard; so that he could draw from it the fruit he wanted. Yahshuah says that the man first planted his vineyard, then set a hedge around it, then dug a winepress in it, and finally leased it to vinedressers and went into a far country. And this gives us a picture of the ownership Yahweh held over, and investment He made in, the nation of Israel as His covenant people. Then starting in verse 42, Yahshuah starts to explain this parable:
Matt 21:42 Yahshuah says to them (speaking to the Pharisees who questioned Him about from whom His authority came), Did you never read in the scriptures, The stone (Here now went mentioning the stone, Yahshuah is referring to Himself) which the builders rejected (The Pharisees), The same was made the head of the corner; THIS WAS FROM YAHWEH (Matt 28:18 tells us that all authority was given to Yahshuah in heaven and on earth), and it is marvelous in our eyes? (43) Therefore I say to you, The kingdom of Yahweh shall be taken from you, and shall be given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it. (44) And he that falls on this stone shall be broken to pieces: but on whomever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust. (Those who oppose Yahshuah, reject Him, and continue impenitent, shall be crushed by Him in the day of judgment, and perish for ever.) (45) And when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard this parable they perceived that He spoke of them (46) And when they sought to lay hold on Him, they feared the multitudes, because they took Him for a prophet.
Matt 22:1 And Yahshuah answered and spoke again in parables to them (Here Yahshuah is responding by way of a parable to questions being asked of him by the chief priests and elders while in the temple), saying, [2] The kingdom of heaven is likened to a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son, [3] and send forth his servants to call them that were bidden, to the marriage feast: and they would not come. [4] Again he sent forth other servants, saying, tell them that are bidden, Behold, I have made ready my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage feast. [5] But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise; [6] and the rest laid hold on his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them. [7] But the king was angry; and he sent his armies, and destroyed those murders, and burned their city. [8] Then says he to his servants, the wedding is ready, but they that were bidden were not worthy. [9] Go you therefore to the partings of the highways, and as many as you shall find, bid to the marriage feast. [10] And those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests. [11] But when the king came in to behold the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment [12] and he says to him, Friend, how came you in here not having a wedding-garment? [13] Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and cast him out into the outer darkness; then shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. [14] FOR MANY ARE CALLED, BUT FEW CHOSEN. (emphasis mine)
Now the commentary of this parable starting from verse 2:
[2] The kingdom of heaven is likened to a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son, (The king is Yahweh, the Son is Yahshuah) [3] and send forth his servants to call them that were bidden, to the marriage feast: and they would not come. (This is all of the twelve tribes of Israel) [4] Again he sent forth other servants, saying, tell them that are bidden, Behold, I have made ready my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage feast. (Yahweh is practically begging his chosen people to accept His invitation for eternal life through the marriage of his Son to the nation of Israel) [5] But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise; (Either the world does not believe that Yahweh is who He says He is or they are just a world of arrogant fools deceived by Satan’s false religions, or, who are without any religion at all.) [6] and the rest laid hold on his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them. (this group would be your devout atheists.) [7] But the king was angry; and he sent his armies, and destroyed those murders, and burned their city. (Could this city be San Francisco, or Moscow?) [8] Then says he to his servants, the wedding is ready, but they that were bidden were not worthy. (Obviously if the world refuses to obey Yahweh and to live by his Laws, they are not worthy) [9] Go you therefore to the partings of the highways, and as many as you shall find, bid to the marriage feast. (In other words, go gather up any who will come, they do not have to be Israelite’s. Just go out into all the world and invite them to the marriage feast in my name, Gentiles and Israelites alike!) [10] And those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests. (Everyone who believes and agrees to live by My Laws are welcome and may enter the Kingdom of Yahweh no matter who they are or what their past may have been.) [11] But when the king came in to behold the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment: (This is the final judgment and it is speaking about those who have not repented and who have not been baptized by full immersion in the name of Yahweh and Yahshuah. Those who are “want to be’s” but are not willing to fully commit to the ways of Yahweh.) [12] and he says to him, Friend, how came you in here not having a wedding-garment? [13] Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and cast him out into the outer darkness; then shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. (This is the end, this is after the resurrection, after the Last Great day, after The White Throne and final Judgment. This is when all hope of repentance is lost and a person refuses to accept Yahweh’s Laws. For this person, all hope is lost.) [14] FOR MANY ARE CALLED, BUT FEW CHOSEN. (emphasis mine)
The Pharisees in their attempt to ensnare Yahshuah, asked Him the following:
Matt 22:17 Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not? (18) But Yahshuah perceived their wickedness, and said, Why do you make trial of me, you hypocrites? (19) Show me the tribute money. And they brought to Him a denarius. (20) And He says to them, Whose is this image and superscription? (21) They say to Him, Caesar’s. Then says He to them, Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to Yahweh the things that are Yahweh’s.
Now the Sadducees attempt to ensnare Yahshuah with a trick question:
Matt 22:24 …..Teacher, Moses said, If a man die having no children, his brother (By brother He means the next kinsman that lawfully might marry her) shall marry his wife, and raise up seed to his brother: (25) Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first married and deceased, and having no seed left his wife to his brother; (26) in like manner the second also, and the third, to the seventh. (27) And after them all, the woman died. (28) IN THE RESURRECTIONTHEREFORE WHOSE WIFE SHALL SHE BE OF THE SEVEN? For they all had her. (29) But Yahshuah answered and said to them, You err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of Yahweh. (30) FOR IN THE RESURRECTION THEY NEITHER MARRY, NOR ARE GIVEN IN MARRIAGE, BUT ARE AS ANGELS IN HEAVEN.
These are the chosen ones who were either raised up with Yahshuah at His ascension to heaven or those from 1 Corinthians 15:42-58 who are resurrected or changed to spirit beings at His return, not those raised as physical beings as per Ezekiel 37.
Again, the Pharisees attempt to try Yahshuah:
Matt 22:34 But the Pharisees, when they heard that He had put the Sadducees to silence, gathered themselves together. (35) And one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, trying Him: (36) Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? (37) And He said to him, You shall LOVE YAHWEH WITH ALL YOUR HEART, and WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, and WITH ALL YOUR MIND. (38) This is the great and first commandment. (39) And a second like unto it is this, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. (40) ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS the whole law hangs, and the prophets.
Matt 22:41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Yahshuah asked them a question, (42) saying, What do you think of the messiah? Whose Son is He? They say to Him, The Son of David. (43) He says to them, How then does David in the Spirit call him Sovereign saying, (44) Yahweh said to my Sovereign, Sit you on my right hand. Till I put your enemies underneath your feet? (45) If David then calls him Sovereign, how is he his son? (46) And no one was able to answer Him a word, neither dared any man from that day forth ask Him any more questions.
The 23rd chapter of Matthew is an admonition to the multitudes to obey the scribes and Pharisees for they sit in Moses’ seat. They are to be afforded respect not because of their conduct but because they hold positions of authority ordained by Yahweh. Yahshuah then goes on to rebuke the scribes and Pharisees for the oppressive burdens they lay on others. He refers to them as hypocrites because they invoke qualities in others in which they themselves do not possess. Included are eight Woes that He lays on the scribes and Pharisees, many of which apply to the false religious leaders of today.
Matt23:1 Then spoke Yahshuah to the multitudes and to his disciples, (2) saying, The scribes and Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat: (3) all things therefore whatever they bid you, these do and observe (Yahshuah is here addressing the disciple and the multitudes, these instructions are for them, not the world in general.): but do not you after their works; for they say, and do not. (4) Yes, they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger.(5) But all their works they do to be seen of men: for they make broad their phylacteries (amulets), and enlarge the borders of their garments, (6) and love the chief places at the feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, (7) and the salutations in the marketplaces, and to be called of men, Rabbi. That is why Yahshuah so often referred to the as “hypocrites”.
To the disciples, multitude, and the world in general, Yahshuah says:
Matt 23:8 But be not you called Rabbi (as the Pharisees like to be titled): for one is your teacher, and all you are brethren. (9) And CALL NO MAN YOUR FATHER (This refers to the Pharisees, they were called fathers, the scribes were called doctors. This does not refer to our own natural fathers [Matt 19:19 “honor your father and your mother”] but it does condemn calling people of the clergy father.) on the earth: for one is your Father, even He who is in heaven. (10) Neither be you called Masters: for one is your Master, even the Messiah (11) But he that is great among you shall be your servant. (12) And whoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled; and whoever shall humble himself shall be exalted.
And to the woeful scribes and Pharisees, Yahshuah says:
Woe #1 Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, that shut the kingdom of heaven against men: Matt 23:13 …..for you enter not in yourselves, neither suffer you them that are entering in to enter.
Woe #2 Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, that steal from the vulnerable: Matt 23:14 …..even while for a pretence you make long prayers (for the sake of donations): therefore you shall receive greater condemnation.
Woe #3 Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, that lead men on the wrong path: Matt 23:15 …. hypocrites! For you compass sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he is become so, you make him twofold more a son of Gehenna than yourselves.
Woe #4 Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, that make false and deceptive oaths: Matt 23:16-22
Woe #5 Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, who are obsessed with trivialities and ignore the weightier matters: Matt 23:23 ….. hypocrites! For you tithe mint and anise and cumin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law, justice, and mercy, and faith: but these you ought to have done, and not to left the other undone, (24) You blind guides, that strain out the gnat, and swallow the camel!
Woe #6 Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, who are impure both inside and out: Matt 23:25 ….. hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but inside they are full from extortion and excess (26) You blind Pharisees, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the platter, that the outside of it may become clean also.
Woe #7 Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, who outwardly have the appearance of good but have not spiritual life within the inner man: Matt 23:27 ….. hypocrites! For you are like to whited sepulchers, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones, and all uncleanness. (28) Even so you outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Woe #8 Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, that honor dead prophets, but murder the living prophets: Matt 23:29 ….. hypocrites! For you build the sepulchers of the prophets, and garnish the tombs of the righteous, (3) and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we should not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. (31) Therefore you witness to yourselves, that you are the sons of them that killed the prophets. (32) Fill you up then the measure of your fathers. (33) You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how shall you escape the judgment of Gehenna?
Matt 24:3 And as He sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of your coming, and of the consummation of the age? (4) And Yahshuah answered and said to them, Take heed that no man lead you astray. (5) For many shall come in my name (This is properly translated, “against My name”), saying, I am the Messiah; and shall lead many astray. (6) And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not troubled; for these things must come to pass; but the end is not yet. (7) For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and earthquakes in various places. (8) But all these things are the beginning of travail .(The first half) (9) Then shall they deliver you up to tribulation, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all the nations for my name’s sake. (10) And then shall many stumble, and shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another. (11) And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray. (12) And because lawlessness shall be multiplied, the love of many shall grow cold. (13) But he that endures to the end, the same shall be saved. (14) And these good tidings of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a testimony to all nations; AND THEN SHALL THE END COME. The above verses, though being told to the disciples in private are timeless, and valid through the centuries. This is borne out by the very last statement, “AND THEN SHALL THE END COME”. That statement confirms that they were not intended for just the apostolitic age.
Matt 24:15 When you therefore see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet (This did take place in 70 AD. Scripture does not tell us that there are two abomination of desolations but then again they do not tell us that there won‘t be. Because of the wording in verse 21, we can reasonably assume that these verses pertain to the days of the apostles as well as for the end-time.), standing in the holy place (let him that reads understand), (16) then let them that are in Judea flee to the mountains: (17)let him that is on the housetop not go down to take out the things that are in his house: (18) and let him that is in the field not return back to take his cloak. (19) But woe to them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! (20) And pray that your flight be not in the winter, neither on a Sabbath; (21) for then shall be great tribulation, SUCH AS HAS NOT BEEN FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD UNTIL NOW NO, NOR EVER SHALL BE. (22) And except those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved: BUT FOR THE ELECT’S SAKE THOSE DAYS SHALL BE SHORTENED. (23) Then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is the Messiah, or, here; believe it not. (24) For there shall arise false Messiahs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. (25) Behold, I have told you beforehand, (26) if therefore they shall say to you, Behold, he is in the wilderness; go not forth: Behold, he is in the inner chambers; believe it not. (27) For as the lightening comes forth from the east, and is seen even to the west; so shall be the coming of the Son of man. (28) Wherever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
Matt 24:29 But immediately after the tribulation of those days (Yahshuah here is talking specifically about the end-time) the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: (30) and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. (31) And he shall send forth his angels with the sound of the great trumpet, and they shall gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Matt24:32 Now from the fig tree learn her parable: when her branch is now become tender, and puts forth her leaves, you know that the summer is near; (33) even so you also, when you see all these things, know that he is near, even at the doors. (34) Truly I say to you, this generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished. (Did His disciples "see all these things" prophesied in their generation? No! The weapons of that day did not exist to fulfill these prophecies. It is true, they did see wars, famines, plagues and persecutions, but they did not see from verse 21: “then shall be great tribulation, SUCH AS HAS NOT BEEN FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD UNTIL NOW NO, NOR EVER SHALL BE”. So what did Yahshuah mean when He referred to "this generation"? He could not have meant the generation of the disciples, they died without seeing all the events leading to His return. The obvious meaning, then, is that He could only have meant the generation of the last days. All these events would occur within the lifetime of one generation. Only one generation will witness all the mounting global conditions described in Yahweh's Word. That is the very last generation.) (35) Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (36) But of that day and hour knows no one, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, BUT THE FATHER ONLY. (So much than for those prognosticators who predict the dates of when the end will come.) (37) And as were the days of Noah, so shall be the coming of the Son of man. (38) For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark, (39) and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall be the coming of the Son of man. (40) Then shall two men be in the field; one is taken, and one is left: (41) two women shall be grinding at the mill: one is taken, and one is left. (42) Watch therefore: for you know not on which day your Master comes. (43) But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have permitted his house to be broken through. (44) Therefore be you also ready; for in an hour that you think not the Son of man comes. (This is not a rapture to heaven. It says, “for in an hour that you think not the Son of man comes“ It does not say, “in that hour you will ascend to heaven“.
Matt 24:45 Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his Master has set over his household, to give them their food in due season? (Those called to teach the true word of Yahweh) (46) Blessed is that servant, whom his Master when he comes shall find so doing. (47) Truly I say to you, that he will set him over all that he has. (48) But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My Master tarries; (49) and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and shall eat and drink with the drunken: (That is to teach false doctrines): (50) The Master of that servant shall come in a day when he expects not, and in an hour when he knows not, (51) and shall severely scourge him, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
The Wise and Foolish Virgins:
Matt 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened to ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. (2) And five of them were foolish, and five were wise. (3) For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them: (4) but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. (5) Now while the bridegroom stayed, they all slumbered and slept. (6) But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come forth to meet him. (7) Then all the virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. (8) And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out. (9) But the wise answered, saying, Perhaps there will not be enough for us and you: go rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. (10) And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut. (11) Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Master, Master, open to us. (12) But he answered and said, Truly I say to you, I know you not. (13) Watch therefore, for you know not the day nor the hour.
Five Talents:
Matt 25:14 For it is as when a man, going into another country, called his own servants, and delivered to them his goods. (15) And to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his several ability; and he went on his journey. (16) Immediately he that received the five talents went and traded them, and made another five talents. (17) in like manner he also that received the two gained other two. (18) But he that received the one went away and dug in the earth, and hid his Master’s money. (19) Now after a long time the Master of those servants came, and made a reckoning with them.(20) And he that received the five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Master, you delivered to me five talents: lo, I have gained other five talents. (21) His Master said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant: you have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things; enter into the joy of your Master. (22) And he also that received the two talents came and said, Master, you delivered to me two talents: lo, I have gained other two talents. (23) His Master said to him, Well done good and faithful servant: you have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things; enter into the joy of your Master. (24)And he also that had received the one talent came and said, Master, I know you, that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter; (25) and I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth: lo, you have your own. (26) But his Master answered and said to him, You wicked and slothful servant, you knew that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I did not scatter; (27) you ought to have put my money to the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest. (28) Take away therefore the talent from him, and give it to him that has the ten talents. (29) For to every one that has shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that has not, even that which he has shall be taken away. (30) And cast out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matt 25:31 But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory: (32) and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; (33) and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. (34) Then shall the king say to them on his right hand, Come you blessed of My Father, INHERIT THE KINGDOM PREPARED FOR YOU FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD: (35) for I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in; (36) naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me. (37) Then shall the righteous answer him saying, Sovereign, when did we see you hungry, and fed you? Or athirst, and gave you a drink? (38) And when did we see you a stranger, and took you in? Or naked, and clothed you? (39) And when did we see you sick, or in prison, and came to you? (40) And the king shall answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Since you did it to one of these brethren, even these least, you did it to me. (41) Then shall he say also to them on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels: (42) For I was hungry, and you did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; (43) I was a stranger, and you took me not in; naked, and you clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and you visited me not, (44) Then shall they also answer, saying, Sovereign, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to you? (45) then shall he answer them, saying, Truly I say to you, Since you did it not to one of these least, you did it not to me .(46) And these shall go away into eternal punishment; but the righteous into eternal life.
Matt 26:17 Now on the first day of unleavened bread the disciples came to Yahshuah , saying, Where will you that we make ready for you to eat the Passover? (These verses are presented to the reader here to show that Yahshuah kept Yahweh’s appointed holy days and therefore we are to do likewise.) (see also, “A Believer's Guide for Observing the Passover” and “Yahweh's Appointed Holy Days” ) (18) And He said, Go into the city to such a man, and say to him, The Teacher says, my time is at hand; I KEEP THE PASSOVER at your house with my disciples.
Matt 26:26 (Again, these verses are presented to the reader here to show believers how the Passover is to be observed. Again, refer to: “A Believer's Guide for Observing the Passover) And as they were eating, Yahshuah took bread, and blessed, and broke it; and he gave to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. (27) And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave to them saying, Drink, all of you, out of it; (28) For this is my blood of the NEW COVENANT, which is poured out for many to remission of sins. (29) But I say to you, I shall not drink from now on of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom. (30) And when they had sung an anthem, they went out to the mount of Olives.
Matt 26:52 …..for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
The following verses are not teachings of Yahshuah but are presented here in order to provide a better understanding as to why the troubles presently taking place in the middle east. Specifically verse 25 and the commentary that follows that verse.
Matt 27:20 Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas, and destroy Yahshuah. (21) But the governor answered and said to them, Which of the two will you that I release to you? And they said, Barabbas. (22) Pilate says to them, what then shall I do to Yahshuah who is called the Messiah? They all say, Let Him be impaled. (23) And he said, Why, what evil has He done? But they cried greatly, saying, Let Him be impaled. (24) So that when Pilate saw that he prevailed nothing, but rather that a tumult was arising, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this righteous man; see you to it. (25) AND ALL THE PEOPLE ANSWERED (not just the chief priests and the elders) and said, HIS BLOOD BE ON US, AND ON OUR CHILDREN. (The Jews themselves asked for the persecutions that have since been brought upon them.) (26) Then released he to them Barabbas; but Yahshuah he scourged and delivered to be impaled.
The following takes place after Yahshuah has been crucified, has been raised, and meets with the disciples in the mountain of Galilee:
Matt 28:16 But the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to mountain where Yahshuah had appointed them. (17) And when they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. (18) And Yahshuah came to them and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. (19) Go you therefore, and make disciples of all nations, immersing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: (20) teaching them to observe all things whatever I commanded you: an lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
And so ends the teachings of Yahshuah from the gospel of Matthew.
Yahshuah’s Teachings According to the Gospel of Mark
The Gospel of Mark is much about healing by Yahshuah, the exorcism of demons, and the miracles He performed. It has much to do about faith. Teachings for the general populace however, which this study is about, are limited.
Mark 1:14 Now after John was delivered up (imprisoned), Yahshuah came into Galilee, preaching the good tidings of Yahweh (15) and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of Yahweh is at hand: REPENT, AND BELIEVE IN THE GOOD TIDINGS. (Believe the message.)
Mark 2:17 …..I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.
Mark 2:27 And He said to them, The SABBATH WAS MADE FOR MAN (How much clearer can Yahshuah be about Yahweh’s Sabbath? It is meant to be kept as Yahweh made it, not how some Roman emperor [Constantine] with the consent of the catholic church decided it should be kept. If anyone reading this message is not keeping the seventh day Sabbath as Yahweh commanded, that person is sinning is and subjecting himself to the penalty of death, the second death ): (28) so that the Son of man is Master even of the Sabbath.
Mark 3:1 And He entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there who had his hand withered. (2) And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day; that they might accuse him. (3) And He says to the man that had his hand withered, Stand forth. (4) And He says to them, Is it lawful on the Sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill? But they held their peace. (5) And when he had looked all around on them with anger, BEING GRIEVED AT THE HARDENING OF THEIR HEART, He says to the man, Stretch forth your hand. And he stretched it forth; and his hand was restored. The answer is YES! It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
Mark 3:22 And the scribes that came down from Jerusalem said, He has Beelzebub (The chief of the demons), and, By the prince of the demons he casts out the demons. (23) And He called them to him, and said in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? (24) And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. (25) And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. (26) And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end. (27) But no one can enter into the house of the strong man, and plunder his goods, except he first binds the strong man; and then he will plunder his house. (28) Truly I say to you, All their sins shall be forgiven to the sons of men, and their blasphemies with which they blaspheme: (29) BUT WHOEVER SHALL BLASPHEME AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT (The unpardonable sin) WILL NEVER HAVE FORGIVNESS, but is guilty of eternal sin:
Mark 4:30 And He said, How shall we liken the kingdom of Yahweh or in what parable shall we set it forth? (31) IT (The kingdom of Yahweh) IS LIKE A GRAIN OF MUSTARD SEED, which when it is sown upon the earth, though it is less than all the seeds that are upon the earth, (32) yet when it is sown, grows up, and becomes greater than all the herbs, and puts out great branches; so that the birds of the heaven can lodge under the shadow of it.
Mark 7:1-4 The Pharisees confront Yahshuah as to why the disciples ate their bread with defiled (dirty) hands. (5) And the Pharisees and the scribes ask Him, Why walk not your disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with defiled hands? (6) And He said to them, Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips But their heart is far from me. (7) BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS THEIR DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS (Commandments) OF MEN. (8) You leave the commandments of Elohim, and hold fast the tradition of men. (9) And He said to them, Full well do you reject the commandments of Elohim, that you may keep your tradition. And in verse 13 He tells them, “They, (The Pharisees. Today “they” are the Christian ministers teaching their false doctrines.) make void the word of Elohim by your tradition, which you have delivered: and many such like things you do.
Mark 7:14 And He called to Him the multitude again, and said to them, Hear me all of you, and understand: (15) there is nothing from outside the man, that going into him can defile him; but the things which proceed out of the man are those that defile the man. (16) If any man has ears to hear, let him hear. (17) And when He was entered into the house from the multitude, His disciples asked of Him the parable. (18) And He says to them, Are you so without understanding also? Perceive you not, that whatever from outside goes into the man, it cannot defile him; (19) because it goes not into his heart, but into his belly, and goes out into the draught, carrying off all that is eaten? (20) And He said, That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man. (21) For from within, out of the heart of men, evil thoughts proceed, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, (22) covetings, wickednesses, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, railing, pride, foolishness: (23) all these evil things proceed from inside, and defile the man.
Mark 8:38 For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of man also shall be ashamed of him, when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels. Here He referred specifically to that “adulterous and sinful generation”. But all generations have met that criteria and so all generations suffer from that shame.
Mark 9:9 And as they (Yahshuah, Peter, Jacob, and John) were coming down from the mountain, He charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen (That being, Yahshuah talking with EliYah and Moses on the mountain), save when the Son of man should have risen again from the dead. (10) And they kept the saying, questioning among themselves what the rising from the dead should mean. (11) And they asked Him, saying, How is it that the scribes say that EliYah must first come? (12) And He said to them, EliYah indeed comes first, and restores all things: and how it is written of the Son of man, that he should suffer many things and be rejected? (13) But I say to you, that EliYah has come, and they have also done to him whatever they would, even as it is written of him. This could be that EliYah came as John the Baptist, and then he will come again to restore all things prior to the second coming of Yahshuah as one of the two witnesses.
Mark 16:14 And afterward (After His resurrection) He was manifested to the eleven themselves as they sat at meat; and He upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them that had seen Him after He was risen. (15) And he said to them, Go you into all the world, and preach the good tidings to the whole creation. (16) HE THAT BELIEVES AND IS IMMERSED (full body immersion, not the dabbing of water on the forehead of an infant) SHALL BE SAVED; but he that disbelieves shall be condemned. Question: DO YOU BELIEVE? HAVE YOU BEEN BAPTIZED BY FULL IMMERSION? If not, YOU ARE CONDEMNED. Please, do not allow this to stand in the way of your salvation.
Yahshuah’s Teachings According to the Gospel of Luke
Chapters 1 and 2 of Luke teach us about the births of John the Baptist and of Yahshuah. This part of the study will begin with a teaching of John the Baptist in order to set the stage as to the greatness of Yahshuah:
Luke 3:15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether he were the Messiah; (16) John answered, saying to them all, I indeed baptize you with water, but there comes he that is mightier than I, the string of whose sandals I am not worthy to unloose: HE SHALL BAPTIZE YOU IN THE HOLY SPIRIT AND IN FIRE: (17) Whose fan is in His hand, thoroughly to cleanse His threshing floor, and to GATHER THE WHEAT INTO HIS GARNER; BUT THE CHAFF HE WILL BURN UP WITH UNQUENCABLE FIRE.
Luke 3:21 And it came to be, when all the people were immersed, Yahshuah also being immersed, and praying, the heaven was opened, (22) and the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form as a dove upon Him (upon Yahshuah), and a voice came form heaven saying, “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well pleased.
Now on with the teachings of Yahshuah:
Luke 4:16 And He (Yahshuah) came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: and He entered, as His custom was, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. (17) And there was delivered to Him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written, (18) The Spirit of Yahweh is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, (19) To proclaim the acceptable year of Yahweh.
Luke 4:43 But He said to them, I must preach the good tidings of the kingdom of Yahweh to other cities also: BECAUSE FOR THIS WAS I SENT.
Luke 5:33 And they said to Him (“They” being the Pharisees and their scribes), The disciples of John fast often, and make supplications: likewise also the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours eat and drink. (34) And Yahshuah said to them, Can you make the sons of the bride chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with then? (35) But the days will come; when the bridegroom (The bridegroom being Yahshuah) shall be taken away from them, then will they fast in those days.
Luke 6:20 And He lifted up His eyes on His disciples, and said, Blessed are the poor, because yours is the kingdom of Yahweh. (21) Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled. Blessed are you that weep now; because you shall laugh. (22) Blessed are you, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. (23) Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy: for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for in the same manner did their fathers to the prophets. (24) But woe to you that are rich! For you have received your consolation. (25) Woe to you who have been filled, because you shall hunger. Woe to you who are laughing now, because you shall mourn. (26) Woe unto you when all men shall speak well of you! For in the same manner did their fathers to the false prophets. (27) But I say to you that hear; Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, (28) Bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you. (29) To him that strikes you on the one cheek offer also the other; and from him that takes away your cloak withhold not your coat also. (30) Give to everyone that asks of you; and of him that takes away your goods ask them not again. (31) DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE OTHERS DO UNTO YOU. (32) And if you love them that love you, what thanks have you? For even sinners love those that love them. (33 And if you do good to them that do good to you, what thanks have you? For even sinners do the same. (34) And if you lend to them from whom you hope to receive, what thanks have you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive again as much. (35) But love your enemies, and do them good, and lend, never despairing; And your reward shall be great, and you shall be sons of the Most High: for He is kind toward the unthankful and evil. (36) Be you merciful, even as your Father is merciful. (37) And judge not, and you shall not be judged: and condemn not, and you shall not be condemned: FORGIVE, AND YOU SHALL BE FORGIVEN. (38) Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall they give into your bosom. For with what measure you measure it shall be measured to you again.
Luke 7:22 Yahshuah answering, said to them (The disciples of John the Baptist), Go, and inform John what things you have seen and heard: how the blind see, the lame walk, and lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and to the poor the message is preached. (23) And blessed is he, whoever will not be offended by me.
Luke 7:25 (After the messengers of John had left, Yahshauh began speaking to the people about John. Here is what He had to say to them) But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in expensive garments? Behold, they who are gorgeously dressed, and live delicately, are in kings‘ palaces. (26) But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and much more than a prophet! (27) This is he of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I will send My messenger before Your face (Yahshuah‘s face), who shall prepare Your way (Yahshuah’s way) before You. (28) For I say to you: Among those who are born of women, there no greater a prophet than John the Immerser, but he who is least in the kingdom of Yahweh is greater than he.
Luke 7:37-50 The story of the woman who was a sinner anointing the feet of Yahshuah with perfume and kissing His feet. Her sins were forgiven her and her belief had saved her. She was commanded to go in peace. But the main lesson to be learned here is in verse (47) Therefore I say to you, (Yahshuah speaking to Peter) Her sins though they are many, are forgiven; for she loved much, BUT THE ONE TO WHOM LITTLE IS FORGIVEN, THE SAME LOVES LITTLE.
Luke 9:23 And He said to all (speaking to His disciples), If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his burden daily, and follow me. (24) For whoever would save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for my sake shall save it. (25) For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit his own self? (26) For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed when he comes in his own glory, and the glory of the Father, and of the holy angels. (27) But I tell you of a truth, There are some of them that stand here, who shall no wise taste of death, till they see the kingdom of Yahweh. (That statement, “There are some of them that stand here, who shall no wise taste of death, till they see the kingdom of Yahweh“, has never had a definitive explanation. Most commentaries explain it as Yahshuah’s transfiguration and the following verses from 28-32 seem to bear this out, so I will include them here and let you be the judge.) (28) And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, that He took with Him Peter, John, and Jacob, and went up into the mountain to pray. (29) And as He was praying, the form of His face was changed, and His raiment became white and dazzling. (30) And behold, there talked with Him two men, who were Moses and EliYah. (31) who appeared in glory, and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. (32) Now Peter and they that were with Him were heavy with sleep: but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory (This would be the proof of verse 27, this is when they saw the kingdom of Yahweh without having had tasted death.
Luke 9:57 And as they went on their way (Yahshuah and His disciples) a certain man said to Him, I will follow you wherever you go (58) And Yahshuah said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of heaven have nests; but the Son of man has not where to lay his head. (59) And He said to another, Follow Me. But he said, Rabbi permit me first to go and bury my father. (60) But He said to him, Leave the dead to bury their own dead, but you, go and announce abroad the kingdom of Yahweh. (61) And another also said, I will follow you, Rabbi; but first permit me to bid farewell to them that are at my house. (62) But Yahshuah said to him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of Yahweh.
Luke 10:16 ……he that rejects me rejects Him that sent me.
Luke 10:21 In that same hour He (Yahshuah) rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, I thank you, O Father, Sovereign of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and did reveal them to babes; yes, Father; for so it was well pleasing in Your sight. (22) All things have been delivered to me of my Father: and no one knows who the Son is , save the Father; and who the Father is, save the Son, and he to whomever the Son wills to reveal him. (23) And turning to the disciples, said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see: (24) for I say to you, that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which you see, and saw not; and to hear the things which you heard and heard not. The key teaching here for us is the underlined portion above. “Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see:“
Luke 10:25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and made trial of Him, saying, TEACHER, WHAT SHALL I DO TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE? (26) And He said to him, What is written in the law? How do you read it? (27) And he answering Him said, You shall love Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbors as yourself. (28) And He said to him, You have answered right: this do, and you shall live.
Who is our neighbor?
Luke 10:29 But he (the lawyer), desiring to justify himself, said to Yahshuah, And who is my neighbor? (30) Yahshuah made answer and said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho; and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him for dead. (31) And by chance a certain priest was going down that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. (32) And in like manner a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side. (33) But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was, and when he saw him, he was moved with compassion, (34) and came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on them oil and wine; and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. (35) And on the next day took out two denarii and gave them to the host, and said, Take care of him; and whatever you spend more, I, when I come back again, will repay you. (36) Which of these three, do you think proved neighbor to him that fell among the robbers? (37) And he said, He that showed mercy on him. And Yahshuah said to him, Go, and do you likewise.
Luke 11:28 ….blessed are they that hear the word of Yahweh, and keep it.
Luke 11:29 And when the multitudes were gathered together to Him, He began to say, This generation is an evil generation: it seeks after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of Jonah (30) For even as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. (31) The queen of the south (The queen of Sheba) shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. (32) The men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here. This applies to all generations for no generation of Israelites have ever repented and therefore the sign being asked for applies to generations, past and present. There are two main interpretations of what Yahshuah means by the sign of Jonah in this context. One view is that the sign of Jonah refers to Jonah’s preaching of repentance. Jonah went to Ninevah, a Gentile nation, and preached a message of impending judgment and the Ninevites repented. The allusion to the Queen of Sheba, also a Gentile, backs this view, in that she heard of Solomon and his wisdom and she responded favorably by traveling to Jerusalem to learn from him. The common factor between Solomon and Jonah was that they presented Yahweh’s message. The common factor between the Queen of Sheba and the Ninevites as Gentiles was that they responded favorably to the message. Thus Yahshuah’s preaching of impending judgment unless there is repentance is the sign of Jonah in this view (Darrell Bock, Luke [Baker], 2:1095-1097 argues for this view
The parallel with Jonah is that the prophet was a man who, in effect, had “died” and had spent three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish. When he went and preached to Ninevah,
the man himself was a testimony of Yahweh’s awful judgment against sin, but also of Yahweh’s mercy and power to deliver sinners from death. Jonah had sinned by disobeying God’s initial command to go to Ninevah and he had paid the penalty of that sin by being swallowed by the great fish. But when he repented, Yahweh had mercy on him. Thus Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites of Yahweh’s severe judgment on sinners, but also of His mercy and power to save those who repent. (Note, by the way, that Yahshuah assumed the truthfulness of the story of Jonah!) Steven J.Cole, Lesson 56, “How to Respond to God’s Word”.
Luke 11:33 No man, when he has lighted a lamp, puts it in a cellar, neither under the bushel, but on the stand, that they which enter in may see the light. (34) The lamp of your body is your eye: when your eye is sound, your whole body is full of light; but when it is evil your body is also filled with darkness. (35) Look therefore whether the light that is in you be not darkness. (36( If therefore your whole body be full of light, having no part dark, it shall be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining does give you light. Just as a lamp should be displayed openly so all may benefit from its light, so too should the word of Yahweh be displayed openly so all may benefit from it.
Luke 12:4 and I say to you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. (5) But I will warn you whom you shall fear; fear Him, who after He has killed has power to cast into Gehenna; yes I say to you, fear Him.
Luke 12:8 And I say to you, Every one who shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of Elohim: (9) but he that denies me in the presence of men shall be denied in the presence of the angels of Elohim.
Luke 12:13 And one out of the multitude said to Him, Teacher, bid my brother divide the inheritance with me. (14) But He said to him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you? (15) And He said to them, Take heed, and keep yourselves from all covetousness: for a man’s life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses. (16) And He spoke a parable to them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: (17) and he reasoned with himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have not where to bestow (store) my fruits? (18) And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my grain and my goods. (19) And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry. (20) But Yahweh said to him, You foolish one, this night is your soul required of you; and the things which you have prepared, whose shall they be? (21) So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward Elohim. Mind, and beware of greed, because one’s life does not consist in the excess of our possessions.
Luke 12:27 consider the lilies, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin; yet I say to you, Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. (28) But if Elohim does so clothe the grass in the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more shall he clothe you, O you of little faith? (29) And seek you not what you shall eat, and what you shall drink, neither be you doubtful of mind. (30) For all these things do the nations of the world seek after; but your Father knows that you have need of these things. (31) Yet SEEK THE KINGDOM OF YAHWEH, AND THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED TO YOU. (32) Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Luke 12:33 Sell that which you have, (Yahshuah was not addressing this to all the disciples, but to those who like the apostles, had received a call to leave all, and devote themselves to the work of the ministry.) and give alms; make for yourselves purses which do not become old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief draws near, neither moth destroys. (34) for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (If one’s treasure is hinged to the word of Yahweh, then that is where his heart will be. This being said, it is obedience to the first and greatest command that Yahshuah gave in Matthew 22:37-38 that makes this so: “And He said to him, You shall LOVE YAHWEH WITH ALL YOUR HEART, and WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, and WITH ALL YOUR MIND. (38) This is the great and first commandment”) (39) But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not left his house to be broken through. (40) Be you also ready: for in an hour that you think not, the Son of man comes.
In verses 40 though 48, Yahshuah speaks to the ministry (the teachers of Yahweh’s word).
Luke 12:40 And Peter said, Rabbi, do you speak this parable to us, or even to all? (42) And the Master said, Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his Master shall set over the household (the assemblies), to give them their portion of food in due season? (43) Blessed is that servant (minister/teacher), whom his Master when he comes shall find so doing. (When Yahshuah returns there will be ministers/teachers, teaching Yahweh’s truths to the world. Therefore, this answers Peter‘s question. Yahshuah is speaking of His return and so, this parable is being spoken to all right up to the time of His return.) (44) Of a truth I say to you, that he will set him over all that he has. (45) But if the servant shall say in his heart, My master delays his coming: and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; (teach false doctrine) (46) the master of that servant shall come in a day when he expects not, and in an hour when he knows not, and shall scourge him, and appoint his portion with the unfaithful. (47) And the servant, who knew his master’s will, and made not ready, nor did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes; (That is, if a minister/teacher knows Yahweh’s truths and intentionally distorts them, he will be punished accordingly) (48) but he that knew not (that is, he that was unknowingly ignorant of the truth), and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes (He will not totally escape punishment, but it will not be as severe.). And to whomever much is given, of him much shall be required: and to whom they commit much, of him will they ask the more
Luke 12:51 Do you think that I have come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, No; but rather division. (52) For there shall be from now on five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. (53) They shall be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. This may be the price to be paid for being a true and faithful follower of Yahshuah.
Luke 13:1 Now there were some present in that very season who told Him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. (2) And He answered and said to them, Do you think that these Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans, because they have suffered these things? (3) I TELL YOU, NO: but, except you repent, you shall in like manner perish. (from Romans 6:23, the wages of sin is death, that is the second death, the Lake of Fire death) (4) Or those eighteen , upon whom the tower of Siloam fell, and killed them, do you think they were offenders above all the men that dwell in Jerusalem? (5) I tell you, No: but, except you repent, you shall likewise perish. Those Galileans and those that were killed by the falling tower were UNREPENTANT SINNERS. Their final fate is the Lake of Fire as will be the case for all others who deny their sins and refuse to repent .
Parable of the fig tree:
Luke 13:6 And He spoke this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none. (7) And he said to the vinedresser, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why does it cumber the ground? (8) And he answering says to him, Master, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: (9) and if it bear fruit in the future, well; but if not, you shall cut it down. Yah is a merciful Elohim. Salvation is assured for those who repent and seek His mercy regardless of their past sins.
Luke 13:23 And one said to Him, Rabbi, are they few that are saved? And he said to them. (24) Struggle to enter by the narrow gate; (See “Narrow is the Gate”.) for many, I say to you, shall seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
Luke 13:25 When once the Master of the house has risen up, and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside, and to knock at the door, saying, Master, open to us; and He shall answer and say to you, I know you not from where you are; (26) then shall you begin to say, We did eat and drink in Your presence, and You did teach in our streets; (27) and He shall say, I tell you, I do not know from where you are; depart from me all you workers of iniquity. (28) There shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth, when He shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of Yahweh, and yourselves cast forth outside. (29) And they shall come forth from the east and west, and from the north and south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of Yahweh. (30) And behold, there are last who shall be first, and there are first who shall be last.
Luke 14:11 For everyone that exalts himself shall be humbled; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.
Luke 14:13 But when you make a feast, bid the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: (14) and you shall be blessed; because they have not with which to recompense you; FOR YOU SHALL BE RECOMPENSED IN THE RESURRECTION OF THE JUST. Does this imply that you should not have family reunions, or cookouts, or dinner parties, of course not, but when you do have such occasions, it commands you to invite someone less fortunate so they too may enjoy a festive occasion.
Luke 14:26 If any man comes to me, and hates not his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yes, and even his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. This would better be stated, “You must love Yahweh above all else” “hate” is a strong word, but that is exactly how it can seem to family members and friends when we put Yahweh before them.
Luke 14:27 whoever does not bear his own burden (That is, totally committed to Yahweh‘s law and ways), and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Luke 14:28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does first sit down and count the cost, whether he has with which to complete it? (29) Lest perhaps, when he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all that behold begin to mock him, (30) saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. (31) Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down with his counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that comes against him with twenty thousand? (32) Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an embassy, and asks conditions of peace. (33) So therefore whoever he is of you who renounces not all that he has, he cannot be my disciple. (34) salt therefore is good: but if even the salt has lost its savor, with what shall it be seasoned? (There is nothing after Yahshuah. Following him is the end of the line. If you vow to follow him, you must do so to the very end. There is no other name for which salvation can be obtained.) (35) It is fit neither for the land nor for the dunghill: men cast it out. He that has ears to hear, let him hear. To follow Yahshuah, one must count the cost, and be prepared to give up all if necessary. Recall the admonition from Matt 10:28 And be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.
Luke 15:1 Now all the publicans and sinners were drawing near to Him to hear Him. (2) And both the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, This man receives sinners and eats with them. (3) And He spoke to them this parable, saying, (4) What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after that which was lost, until he finds it? (5) And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. (6) And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost. (7) I say to you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven over one sinner that repents, more than over ninety-nine righteous persons, who need no repentance. (8) Or what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she loses one piece, does not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently until she finds it? (9) And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I had lost. (10) Even so, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of Elohim over one sinner that repents.
Luke 15:11-32 Is the story of the prodigal son. It points out why the reason to rejoice is for repentance. This is brought home in verses 31 and 32: (31) And he said to him, Son, you are ever with me, and all that is mine is yours (Here the father is speaking to the good son who stayed home and aided his father). (32) But it was proper to make merry and be glad (Over the return of the prodigal son): for this your brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found. When someone leaves the bosom of Yahshuah, and obedience to the laws of Yahweh, and then repents and returns to those laws, all of the angels in heaven rejoice.
This parable is better understood from the International Standard Version of the Bible:
Luke 16:1 Now Yahshuah was saying to the disciples, "A rich man had a manager who was accused of wasting his assets. (The rich man’s assets) (2) So he called for him and asked him, 'What's this I hear about you? Give me a report about your management, because you can't be my manager any longer.' (3) "Then the manager said to himself, 'What should I do? My master is taking my position away from me. I'm not strong enough to dig, and I'm ashamed to beg. (4) I know what I'll do so that people will welcome me into their homes when I'm dismissed from my job.' (5) "So he called for each of his master's debtors. He asked the first, 'How much do you owe my master?' (6) The man replied, 'A hundred jars of olive oil.' The manager told him, 'Get your bill. Sit down quickly and write "fifty."' (7) Then he asked another debtor, 'How much do you owe?' The man replied, 'A hundred containers of wheat.' The manager told him, 'Get your bill and write "eighty."' (8) The master praised the dishonest manager for being so clever. (The master, not Yahshuah, commended not his faithfulness, but his wisdom in looking out for a home when about to lose his place) For worldly people are more clever than enlightened people in dealing with their own generation. (9) "I'm telling you, (Says Yahshuah to His disciples. The parable has ended and Yahshuah now makes known the application to the disciples) make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous riches, so that when they're gone (The unrighteous riches, wealth) you'll be welcomed into eternal homes (Instead of hoarding we must make heavenly friends, i.e., Yahweh and Yahshuah, the Father and the Son. We must lay up eternal treasure in heaven not riches on earth). (10) Whoever is faithful with very little is also faithful with a lot, and whoever is dishonest with very little is also dishonest with a lot. (11) So if you have not been faithful with unrighteous riches, who will trust you with true wealth? (12) And if you have not been faithful with what belongs to foreigners, who will give you what is your own? (13) "No servant can serve two masters. For either he will hate one and love the other, or be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches!"
Luke 16:14 And the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they scoffed at Him,
(15) And He said to them, You are they who justify yourselves in the site of men; but Elohim knows your hearts, for that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of Elohim. (16) The Law and the prophets were until John; from that time the glad tidings of the kingdom of Yahweh is preached, and every man enters violently into it. (17) But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tittle of the law to fall. As much as the silly ACLU and left wing liberal man tries, they will never be able to put down Yahweh’s law. Praise Yahweh!
Luke 16:18 Every one that puts away his wife (with the exception of fornication), and marries another, commits adultery: and he that marries one that put away from a husband commits adultery.
Luke 16:19 Now there was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: (20) And a certain beggar named Lazarus was laid at his gate, full of sores, (21) and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table: yes even the dogs came and licked his sores. (22) And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and that he was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: and the rich man also died, and was buried; (23) And in the grave he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and sees Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. (24) And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. (25) But Abraham said, Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things: but now here he is comforted, and you are in anquish. (26) And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that they that would pass from here to you may not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us. (27) And he said, I pray you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house: (28) For I have five brethren; that he may testify to them, lest they also come into this place of torment. (29) But Abraham says, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. (30) And he said, No, father Abraham: but if one go to them from the dead, they will repent. (31) And he said to him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rise from the dead. We have Yahweh’s word in our bibles. That is all we need to understand and to obtain salvation.
Luke 17:1 And He said to His disciples, It is impossible but that occasions of stumbling should come; but woe to him, through whom they come! (2) It were well for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, rather than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble. (3) Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. (4) And if he sins against you seven times in the day, and seven times turns to you, saying, I repent: you shal forgive him. Forgiving is essential for salvation.
Again, here the International Standard Version has the better rendering:
Luke 17:5 Then the apostles said to the Lord, "Give us more faith!" (6) The Yahshuah replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you! (7) "Suppose a man among you has a servant plowing or watching sheep. Would he say to him when he comes in from the field, 'Come at once and have something to eat'? (8) Of course not. Instead, he would say to him, 'Get dinner ready for me, and put on your apron and wait on me until I eat and drink. Then you can eat and drink.' (9) He doesn't praise the servant for doing what was commanded, does he? (10) That's the way it is with you. When you have done everything you were ordered to do, say, 'We are worthless servants. We have done only what we ought to have done.'"
Luke 17:11-19 Tells of the ten lepers healed by Yahshuah but only one gives thanks. Let’s pick it up from verse (15) And one of them when he saw that he was healed, turned back, with a loud voice glorifying Yahweh; (16) and he fell upon his face at His feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. (17) And Yahshuah answering said, Were not the ten cleansed? But where are the nine? (18) Were there none found that returned to give glory to Yahweh, save this stranger? (19) And He said to him, Arise, and go your way: YOUR FAITH HAS MADE YOU WHOLE.
Before Yahshuah’s returns, He tells us it will be like in the time of Noah:
Luke 17:22 And He said to the disciples, The days will come, when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you shall not see it. (23) and they shall say to you, Lo, there! Lo, here! Go not away, nor follow after them: (24) for as the lightening, when it flashes out of one part under the heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall the Son of man be in his day. (25) But first must he suffer many things and be rejected of this generation. (26) And as it came to pass in the days of Noah, even so it shall be also in the days of the Son of man. (27) They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. (28) Likewise even as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built, (29) but in the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. (30) AFTER THE SAME MANNER WILL IT BE WHEN THE SON OF MAN IS REVEALED. (31) In that day (the day when the Son of man is revealed, also known as, the second coming of Yahshuah) he that shall be on the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not go down to take them away: and let him that is in the field likewise not return back. (32) Remember Lot’s wife. (33) Whoever shall seek to gain his life shall lose it: but whoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. Whoever counts his life of so much value that he will preserve it by sacrificing his spiritual integrity, or renounces his religious beliefs to save his life, will find in the end that he has lost his soul forever for the sake of a few fleeting years; Conversely, he who gives up all things, even life itself, will find an abundant reward in the life eternal. Sinners of every age go on securely in their evil ways, and remember not their latter end. But wherever the wicked are, who are marked for eternal ruin, they shall be found by the judgments of Yahweh.
(Luk 18:1 And he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; (2) Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not Elohim, neither regarded man: (3) And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. (4) And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not Elohim, nor regard man; (5) Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest she wears me out by her continual coming. (6) And the Teacher said, Hear what the unrighteous judge says. (7) And shall not Elohim avenge his own elect, that cry to Him day and night and yet He is longsuffering over them? (If an unjust, hard-hearted judge can be moved by the persistent prayers of a widow, will not the tender, loving, good Father hear the cries of his children?) (8) I say to you, that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth? Prayer is faith. Prayerlessness is proof of unbelief. Will Yahshuah find a praying world when He returns? In the United States there is a move afoot to stop all prayer in all public places. Who do you think is behind this move, and why?
Luke 18:9 And he spoke this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: (10) Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. (11) The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, Elohim, I thank thee, that I am not as other men , extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. (12) I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. (13) And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, Elohim be merciful to me a sinner. (14) I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: FOR EVERY ONE THAT EXALTS HIMSELF SHALL BE HUMBLED, BUT HE THAT HUMBLES HIMSELF SHALL BE EXALTED.
Luke 18:15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. (16) But Yahshuah called them to Him and said, Permit the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for to such belongs the kingdom of Yahweh. (17) Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of Yahweh as a little child, he shall in no wise enter therein.
Luke 18:18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
(19) And Yahshuah said to him, Why do you call me good? No one is good save one, even Elohim. (20) You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother. (21) And he said, All these things have I observed from my youth up (22) And when Yahshuah heard it, He said to him, One thing you lack yet: sell all that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. (23) But when he heard these things, he became very sorrowful; for he was very rich. (24) And Yahshuah seeing him, said, With what difficulty shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of Yahweh! (25) For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of Yahweh. (26) And they that heard it said, Then who can be saved? (27) But He said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with Yahweh. (28) And Peter said, Lo, we have left our own, and followed you. (29) And He said to them, Truly I say to you, There is no man who has left house, or wife, or brethren, or parents, or children, for the kingdom of Yahweh’s sake, (30) who shall not receive manifold more in this time, and in the world to come eternal life. Yahshuah is not commanding you to give up all that you have, He is saying that those who do make such great sacrifices will be greater in Yahweh’s kingdom. The greater lesson to be learned for us today is compassion for the poor. It is one of the reasons that Americans, because of their “Judeao Christian” heritage are the most charitable people on the face of the earth. Charitable giving to feed the widows, the orphans (James 1:27), and poor among us is important for our salvation and the main reason that our wealth should not be put into the hands of the government for the purpose of socialistic wealth distribution. Charitable giving must remain a personal choice.
Luke 20:25 ….render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to Yahweh the things that are Yahweh’s.
Luke 21:7 And they asked Him, saying, Teacher, when therefore shall these things be? And what shall be the sign when these things are about to come to pass? (8) (Here we begin a dual prophecy intended for those days following Yahshuah’s crucifixion as well as for these last days.) He said, Take heed that you be not led astray: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am he; and, The time is at hand: do not go after them. (9) And when you shall hear of wars and tumults, be not terrified: for these things must come to pass first; but the end is not immediately. (10) Then said He to them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; (11) and there shall be great earthquakes, and in diverse places famines and pestilences; and there shall be terrors and great signs from heaven. (12) But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and shall persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my NAME’S SAKE (see For Whose Name’s Sake Will You be Hated?). (13) It shall turn out to you for a testimony. (14) Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to answer: (15) for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or to gainsay. (16) But you shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. (17) And you shall be hated of all men for my NAME’S SAKE. (18) And not a hair on your head shall perish. (19) In your patience you shall win your souls. That is, even though you may be put to death, your salvation is secure.
Luke 21:20-24 Pertains only to the people of Yahshuah’s days on earth, it forecasts the Abomination of desolation that took place at Jerusalem in 70 AD.
Luke 21:25 (Here we return to prophecy for the last days) And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows (the waves); (26) men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world (This will bring to mind the prophecies that were read here and from others who have been shouting out the end-time warnings): for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. (27) And then shall they see the Son of Yahweh coming in a cloud with power and great glory. (28) But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads; because your redemption draws near.
Luke 21:29 And He spoke to them a parable: Behold the fig tree, and all the trees: (30) when they now shoot forth, you see it and know of your own selves that the summer is now near. (31) Even so you also, when you see these things coming to pass, know you that the kingdom of Yahweh is near. (32) Truly I say to you, This generation (Most commentaries refer to “this generation” as the Jewish race) shall not pass away till all things be accomplished (33) Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. (34) But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts should be overcharges with debauchery, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and the day come on you suddenly as a snare: (35) for so shall it come upon them all that dwell on the face of all the earth. (36) But watch you at every season, making supplication, that you may prevail to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Yahweh.
Chapter 22 of Luke from verse 1 through 20 deals with the Passover and the changes in the ritual involved with the observance of the Passover that Yahshuah will make, so that it becomes a memorial of His sacrifice for mankind’s sins.
Luke 22:14 And when the hour was come, He sat down, and the apostles with Him. (15) And He said to them, With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer: (16) For I say to you, I shall not eat it, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of Yahweh. (17) And He received a cup, and when He had given thanks, He said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: (18) For I say to you, I shall not drink from henceforth of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of Yahweh shall come. (19) And He took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and gave it to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.(20) And the cup in like manner after supper, saying, This cup is THE NEW COVENANT in my blood, even that which is poured out for you. (see: A Believer's Guide for Observing the Passover, and, Yahweh's Appointed Holy Days,)
Luke 22:29 (To the apostles He said) and I appoint to you a kingdom, even as my Father appointed to me, (30) that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; AND YOU SHALL SIT ON THRONES JUDGING THE TWELVE TRIBES OF ISRAEL. It is the twelve apostles who will be judging the twelve tribes of Israel, not the believers as some teach. The believers will be kings and priests in Yahshuah’s kingdom.
These next two verses are added not because they are a teaching for us today, but because they have been grossly misinterpreted and misapplied as proof scriptures that people go to heaven when they die. They don’t! And never will. They go into the grave and await their resurrection to life with Yahshuah here on earth.
Again, these next verses are not added as teachings for us today but because they too have been misinterpreted and misapplied by Satan’s false ministers as proof scriptures for the changing of the Sabbath from the seventh day of the week to Sunday, the first day of the week (see: Which Day is for You?). Observing Sunday as your Sabbath is a breaking of the fourth commandment and therefore is sin. Sin we know from Romans 6:23 is death: “For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of Yahweh is eternal life in the Messiah Yahshuah our master”.
Luke 23:50 (This was after Yahshuah had been crucified before the sun had set on Wednesday, the day of preparation before the First Day of Unleavened Bread (Thursday) which is a High Day, a Sabbath day.) And behold, a man named Joseph who was a counselor, a good and righteous man (51) [he had not consented to their counsel (the chief priests and scribes who wanted Yahshuah impaled) and deed ], a man of Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who was looking for the kingdom of Yahweh: (52) this man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Yahshuah. (53) And he took it down, and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid Him in a tomb that was hewn in stone, where never man had yet lain. (54) And it was the day of the Preparation (Preparation for the First Day of Unleavened Bread), and the Sabbath drew on (Again, The First Day of Unleavened Bread is a High Day, a Sabbath). (55) And the women, who had come out of Galilee, followed after, and beheld the tomb, and how His body was laid. (56) And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments (This they would have done on Friday, the Preparation day for that weekly Sabbath as it would have been too late to do this on Wednesday before the sun set. And on the Sabbath (the weekly Sabbath) they rested according to the commandment. Luke 24:1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared. (2) And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. (3) And they entered in, and found not the body of the Master Yahshuah.
Yahshuah’s Teachings According to the Gospel of John
The first five verses of John 1 are not teachings of Yahshuah but they are given along with commentary to better understand who He is.
John 1:1 IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD, AND THE WORD WAS WITH YAHWEH, AND THE WORD WAS ELOHIM. (2) THE SAME WAS IN THE BEGINNING WITH YAHWEH.
Christian doctrine (The Trinity Doctrine) teaches that the “WORD” is Jesus and proof that He pre-existed. IS THIS TRUE? If it is, then yes, it proves that Yahshuah pre-existed. If it is not true, then what is the truth?
“word” 3056 From Strong’s Concordance s is the Greek word “logos” which means: “something said (including the thought); by impl, a topic (subject of discourse), also reasoning (the mental faculty) or motive;
From The Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible, volume 4, Pages 870-871 “This Greek word LOGOS shows to be itself the Greek translation of the original Hebrew word DABAR, which means: Yahweh’s revealed will…His WHOLE PLAN and purpose for mankind.
From footnotes for John !:1-5 from The Book of Yahweh - The Holy Scriptures: “Some of the most blatant MISUNDERSTANDING AND DECEIT has arisen because of Yahchanan (John) 1:1-5 These five scriptures are used to justify the PAGAN concept of the Trinity that still exists in the religions of today; trying to justify the doctrine that Yahshua Messiah pre-existed., that it was Yahshua who was being referred to as the WORD, that Yahshua was a god (el) previously, and now, Yahshua Messiah is the god (el) of the New Testament. All this is due to the translators lack of Spiritual Understanding. Egyptian Mythology and Egyptian Christianity by Samuel Sharpe, pages 13-14, The Religions of Ancient Egypt and Babylonia by A.H. Sayce, pages 229-230, A Statement of Reasons for Not Believing the Doctrine of Trinitarians by Andrew Norton, Page 94.
It is a considerable mistake to read John 1:1 as though it means "In the beginning was the Son of God and the Son was with the Father and the Son was God." This is not what John wrote. The German poet Goethe wrestled with a correction in translation: "In the beginning was the Word, the Thought, the Power or the Deed." He decided on "deed." He comes very close to John’s intention. What the evangelist wanted to say was: "The Creative Thought of God has been operating from all eternity."
The Nature of Preexistance in the New Testament by Anthony Buzzard
The above was inserted to dispel the false teaching that the word “WORD”, in John 1:1-5 has to do with the pre-existence of Yahshuah when in fact it has to do with Yahweh’s plan for mankind (see Yahweh’s Appointed Holy Days). The truth is, Yahweh has a great Master Plan for mankind. The plan although very simple, is understood today by only a few in relation to the billions who inhabit the earth. The mystery of that plan is laid out in the yearly cycle of his Feast Days (holy days). Unlike the shallow pagan traditional holidays “Christians” observe. Each of the seven Feasts is significant to man’s salvation. Because of the deception, the majority of Christian church goers view the biblical festivals as irrelevant to their relationship with Yahweh, when in fact, those holy days are the key to His Master Plan and to Yahshuah‘s central role in that plan. You might call it Yahweh’s “Blueprint for salvation”.
Continuing with John 1, (3) ALL THINGS WERE MADE THROUGH HIM (This is referring to Yahweh, the Father, not to Yahshuah the begotten Son); AND WITHOUT HIM WAS NOT ANYTHING MADE THAT HAS BEEN MADE. (4) IN HIM WAS LIFE; AND THE LIFE WAS THE LIGHT OF MEN. (5) AND THE LIGHT SHINES IN THE DARKNESS; AND THE DARKNESS COULD NOT MASTER IT.
For a greater understanding regarding Yahshuah’s pre-existence, check out: cdelph.org/jesus.html#preexist
There are many other sources that address this falsely taught misconception. All one need do is Google “Did Jesus Pre-exist”
John 2:23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed on His name, beholding His signs which He did. (24) But Yahshuah did not trust Himself to them, for that He knew all men, (25) and because He needed not that any should bear witness concerning man; for He Himself knew what was in man.
John 3:1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: (2) the same came to Him by night, and said to Him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from Elohim, for no one can do these signs that You do, except Elohim be with Him. (3) Yahshuah answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except one is born anew (fully immersed by baptism just as Yahshuah was by John), he cannot see the kingdom of Yahweh. (4) Nicodemus says to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? (5) Yahshuah answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, EXCEPT ONE IS BORN OF WATER AND THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of Yahweh. (6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (7) Marvel not that I said to you, YOU MUST BE BORN ANEW. (8) The wind blows where it will, and you hear the voice of it, but know not from where it comes, and to where it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.(9) Nicodemus answered and said to Him, How can these things be? (10) Yahshuah answered and said to him, Are you the teacher of Israel, and understand not these things? (11) Truly, truly, I say to you, We speak which we know, and bear witness of that which we have seen; and you receive not our witness. (12) If I told you earthly things and you believe it not, how shall you believe if I tell you heavenly things? (13) (and keep this next verse in mind every time you hear someone say at someone’s death, “Well he or she, is in a better place now, he or she is in heaven with the Lord) AND NO ONE HAS ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN, BUT HE THAT DESCENDED OUT OF HEAVEN (This complex verse brings to mind two questions: [1] Did Yahshuah pre-exist? and [2] Did He ascend to heaven before He was crucified? The answer to both is NO! The best explanation for this verse that I have found comes from the website, Focus on the Kingdom. http://www.focusonthekingdom.org/articles/john3.htm Here is an excerpt of the commentary regarding this verse:
Underlying the apparent complexity of John 6:62 is a very simple concept, to which readers of John must become accustomed. Jesus saw himself as fulfilling the foreordained “program” laid out in advance by the Scriptures. What has been promised for him may be said to have actually happened in vision or other prediction before it happens in reality. The Son of Man was in heaven, seen, so to speak, in a “heavenly preview” before he actually arrived there (John 6:62). A similar phenomenon reported by the Synoptics is the appearance in vision, not actually, of Elijah and Moses (Matt. 17:1-9). In John 3:13 the Son of Man has already gained access to heavenly wisdom. But later in John 20:17 Jesus states that he has “not yet ascended to the Father.” The first statement (John 3:13) is to be taken figuratively, while the latter refers to Jesus’ actual departure to the Father.
Page 328
... Texts in John which have been claimed as evidence for the literal preexistence of Jesus have been misunderstood, because too little attention has been paid to John’s and Jesus’ Jewish categories of thought. The phenomenon that past tenses do not always mean a reference to past events has been overlooked (John 17:5; cp. 17:22, 24). In John 3:13 Jesus said nothing of an eternal preexistence as “God the Son.” He claimed rather to have been uniquely admitted to the divine counsels. He had not literally “ascended to heaven,” nor had the Son of God been in heaven from eternity. He was destined to go to the Father, fulfilling Daniel’s vision of the Son of Man (John 6:62). John 13:3, 16:28 and 20:17 have been mistranslated in the NIV to give the impression that Jesus was going back to his Father (see KJV, RSV). His glory had been prepared for him before the world came into existence (John 17:5; cp. Matt 6:1: future rewards are already secure), and he was chosen as God’s supreme human representative, the Messiah, long before Abraham (John 8:58). It was as the human Son of Man that he had “preexisted” in the divine decree. Jesus is convinced that he must carry out God’s predetermined plan: “Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer?…All things written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled” (Luke 24:26, 44).
Continuing on now with John 3:13:
even the Son of man, who is in heaven. (14) And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man (Son of Yahweh) be lifted up; (15) that whoever believes may in Him have eternal life. (16) For Yahweh so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes on Him should not perish, but have eternal life. (17) For Yahweh sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through Him. (18) He that believes on Him is not judged: he that believes not has been judged already, because HE HAS NOT BELIEVED ON THE NAME (that name is Yahshuah not Jesus) of the only begotten Son of Yahweh. (19) And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. (20) For every one that does evil hates the light, and comes not to the light, lest his works should be reproved. (21) But he that does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be made manifest, that they have been worked in Yahweh.
John 4:43 And after the two days (The two days He stayed in Samaria after meeting with the woman at Jacob’s well) He went forth into Galilee. (44) For Yahshuah himself testified, that a prophet has no honor in his own country. (45) So when He came into Galilee the Galileans received Him, having seen all the things that He did in Jerusalem AT THE FEAST: for they also went to the feast. (This would have been the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This verse 45 was included here to show that Yahshuah kept Yahweh’s appointed holy days. No where in scripture does it say that the keeping of those appointed times has been done away with. They are to be kept just as Yahshuah Himself kept them. They are Sabbaths. They are part of the 4th commandment. Not keeping them is sin, and we know from Romans 6:23, “The wages of sin is eternal death’. Therefore, if we are keeping Pagan holidays instead of Yahweh’s ordained feasts days, we are sinning.)
Here Yahshuah is answering those Jews who persecuted Him for breaking the Sabbath by healing a man who had an infirmity for some thirty-eight years and also for calling Elohim His Father, allegedly making himself equal to Yahweh:
John 5:19 Yahshuah therefore answered and said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing: for whatever things he does, these the Son also does in like manner. (20) For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that Himself does: and greater works than these will He show him, that you may marvel. (21) For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he will. (22) For neither does the Father judge any man, BUT HE HAS GIVEN ALL JUDGMENT TO THE SON; (23) that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father that sent him. (24) Truly, truly, I say to you, He that hears my word, and believes Him that sent me, has eternal life, AND COMES NOT INTO JUDGMENT, BUT HAS PASSED OUT OF DEATH INTO LIFE. (This will happen at the return of Yahshuah. Those dead and in the grave {not in heaven as most have been falsely taught and believe} will be resurrected to life as spirit beings,. Those alive at His return, “in a twinkling of an eye“, will be changed to living spiritual beings.) (25) Truly, truly, I say to you, The hour comes, (the time of the resurrection), and now is, (that hour is when it will happen), when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of Yahweh; and they that hear shall live. (that is they who came to the light, the truth of Yahweh, they will be the one‘s to live eternally) (26) For as the Father has life in Himself, even so gave He to the Son also to have life in himself: (27) and He gave authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man. (28) Marvel not at this,: for the hour comes, in which all that are in the tombs (notice they are in the tombs, not in heaven) shall hear his voice (Yahshuah‘s voice), (29) and shall come forth; they that have done good, to the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.
Here Yahshuah is speaking to the multitude that followed Him after being fed from the five barley loaves and two fish:
John 6:27 Work not for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of man shall give to you: for him the Father, even Yahweh, has sealed. (28) They said therefore to Him, What must we do, that we may work the works of Elohim? (29) Yahshuah answered and said to them, This is the work of Elohim, THAT YOU BELIEVE ON HIM WHOM HE HAS SENT.(30) They said therefore to Him, What then do you for a sign, that we may see, and believe you? What do you work? (31) Our fathers ate the manna (notice, Yahshuah is including Himself in this statement, another sign that He did not pre-exist as “God“.) in the wilderness; as it is written, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat. (32) Yahshuah therefore said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses that gave you the bread out of heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven. (33) For the bread of Elohim is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world. (Refer back to the commentary following John 3:13 regarding the pre-existence of Yahshuah) (34) They said therefore to Him, Rabbi, evermore give us this bread. (35) Yahshuah said to them, I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE: he that comes to me shall not hunger, and he that believes on me shall never thirst. (36) But I said to you, that you have seen me, and yet believe not. (37) All that which the Father gives me shall come to me; and him that comes to me I will in no wise cast out. (38) For I am come down from heaven (This was covered earlier, He did not literally come down from heaven but figuratively. That is, He has gained access to heavenly wisdom.), not to do my own will, but the will of Him that sent me.(39) And this is the will of Him that sent me, that of all that which he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. (40) For this is the will of my Father, that every one that beholds the Son, and believes on him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. Resurrect them from the grave, not bring them back from heaven. The only ones in heaven now are those Saints that ascended with Yahshuah at the time of His ascension. (Matthew 27:52)
John 6:44 No man can come to me, EXCEPT THE FATHER THAT SENT ME (as the Messiah/Savior) DRAW HIM: and I will raise him up in the last day.
John 6:45 It is written in the prophets, and they shall all be taught OF Yahweh (it is by the teaching of His Word and Spirit that men are drawn to Yahweh). Every one that has heard from the Father, and has learned, comes to me.
John 6:47 Truly, truly, I say to you, HE THAT BELIEVES HAS ETERNAL LIFE (48) I am the bread of life (49) Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. (50) This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that a man may eat of it, and not die. (not die the second death, he will as promised, have eternal life, not in heaven, but in the New Earth) (51) I am the living bread which came down out of heaven (I.e., He was begotten as the Son of Yahweh as the Messiah/Savior): if any man eat this bread, he shall live forever: yes and the bread which I will give is my flesh (New Covenant Passover), for the life of the world.
Here Yahshuah commands the New Covenant Passover:
John 6:53 ….Truly, truly, I say to you, Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man (symbolized by the broken unleavened bread eaten as His body at Passover) and drink his blood (Symbolized by the wine drank as His blood at Passover), you have not life in yourselves. (54) He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life (
